Bethlehem

At this time of year many churches recreate what Bethlehem was like the night Jesus was born.   We simply googled "back to Bethlehem" on the web and several churches popped up offering this lovely event. Bethlehem is an interactive re-creation of the city of Bethlehem on the night of the first Christmas.  It feels as though you have travelled back in time.  Villagers, all in costume and character stroll among the streets. At this particular church we came across a  basket weaver, a potter, a metal smith, a leather worker, a donkey, sheep, goats and even the stable that leads you into Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. As we entered they gave us "shekels" to buy fresh made bread, spices, scrolls, pomegranates, barley, dates, and goat cheese. Every 30 minutes Angels lit up upon the hillside to sing glad tidings and celebrate the Prince of Peace. It was a very special night, and we encourage you to look to see if they offer one in your hometown.

But the angel said to them, do not be afraid , I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. - Luke 2:10
